Artist Statement: Inspired by Nicolai Fechin, a master of combining the three-dimensional human form with the two-dimensional abstract surround, I painted “Coverup” in watercolor and gouache. The figure is used as a secondary support to the abstract desigh of her garment which, in turn, becomes the focal point.
