Artist Statement: During the snowiest winter in recent memory my young friend found comfort in coffee and my company. She’s back in Paris waiting out the pandemic. I painted her to remember the warmth we shared. Value studies move my brush away from photos and into paint. I work with limited layers in a spilt primary palette of M. Graham pigments.
