Artist Comments: This mixed water media on paper painting (Adrift) was created intuitively in a loosening up exercise. For the past 4 years I have participated in a painting a day with friends in the UK and US. My goal was to loosen up and let the paint take me to where it wanted in each session.
I set up a studio in the basement for creating intuitive works in acrylic on paper. This painting was created by giving myself permission to "let go" and this was enabled by layering paints intuitively. I study the paints until I see a figure or in this case a face. The figures were created by painting the negative space.
