Beatrice Trautman - Sierra Sentinel

“The organic patterns found in nature - stones in a stream bed, light in the clouds - have inspired me since childhood and form the fabric of my work.”
Beatrice Trautman was born and raised in California but has lived in Morrison, Colorado at the foot of the Rocky Mountains for most of her adult life. She received a B.A. in Design from the University of California Berkeley, a teaching certificate in Art from the Metropolitan State University in Denver, and has worked as an art teacher, metalsmith, interior designer, jewelry designer and mother. Aside from family, her passion is painting.
She works in watercolor, oil and acrylic, both abstract and representational. Her love of the Southwest and her travels throughout the world have influenced her paintings which uniquely capture her sense of patterns, texture and color in her subject matter - whether it be the grandeur of a canyon, birds sunning themselves on a rocky coast or the busy street life of an Asian market. Her work is found in corporate and private collections, has been juried into many exhibitions, won numerous awards, and is a signature member of the Colorado Watercolor Society and the Western Federation of Watercolor Societies. Her work can be viewed on her website at www.beatricetrautman.com.
