Robin Becic - I Am
Watercolor and acrylic on Yupo paper by Robin Becic.
Artist Statement: Lately my work centers on my relationships with females in my family. In particular my relationship with my nieces. I chose to paint this portrait to capture the will and strength of a niece of mine who is battling a life long illness of pancreatitis. The onset of this disease appeared when she was 26. Now that she is 30, she continues to bring a fearsome desire to live and to thrive in spite of regular hospitalizations with the illness rearing its ugly head... I tend to paint in series, and this particular one: "Sirens Series" I'm continuing to explore what it means to be young, determined, & dangerously beautiful in our world today. The title of this painting is "I am"...It's painted on Yupo with watercolor and acrylic.
