Steve Kleier - Bike Race
Acrylic on paper by Steve Kleier.
Artist Statement: have painted with transparent watercolor for several years. In 2018 I added acrylic pallet knife painting. The two techniques are of course very different and so have expanded my vocabulary. In both I am interested in gesture and expression and enjoy the interplay of realism and abstraction. I do up to 5 demonstrations a week and am motivated by painting for a group. I enjoy the challenge of making techniques accessible to people and find that creates a format for me to explore my own ideas. As well as traditional drawing and painting concepts and skills, I strive for drama, expression and evidence of the human touch in my work. My favorite subjects are landscape, city scenes, people and portraits. I am a life long artist, experienced instructor and board member at the Oregon Society of Artists.
