Ruth Armitage - Petroglyph
Watercolor painting by Ruth Armitage.
Artist Statement: Petroglyph is an abstraction, a primitive image inspired by native deer. My intent was to express the grace and feel of a deer using line symbolically. The painting was inspired by thinking about how humans have interacted with wildlife over the last few centuries. My recent work has focused on perceptions of the farm where I grew up, in rural Oregon.
Ruth Armitage is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, Rocky Mountain National Watermedia, San Diego Watercolor Society, Watercolor West, California Watercolor Association and the Northwest Watercolor Society, and Past President of the Watercolor Society of Oregon. The Watercolor Society of Oregon has awarded her its Outstanding Service Award.
