JJ Jiang - At Rest
Watercolor painting by JJ Jiang from Cary, NC.
Artist Statement: The human figure has always been one of my primary inspirations. A friend brought in a few kimonos for a model to wear in one of our figure painting sessions. I was instantly struck by the beautiful union between two exotic art forms: kimono and human. I am imaging that same sort of excitement that was experienced by Monet and William Chase when they put kimonos on their models. Since then I have produced a series of such
paintings in both oil and watercolor. My concern is not in the conventional use of the kimono, but rather in the harmony of these two beauties - in terms of form and color. "At Rest" is one of the fruits produced from this endeavor.
