Thomas Schaller - Filbert Street San Francisco
Watercolor painting by Thomas Schaller from Marina Del Rey, CA.
Artist Statement: All my work is a study in contrasts. Hard edges and soft, warm tones and cool, the man-made and the natural, along with vertical and horizontal elements all collide to establish a sense of depth and energy in keeping with the subject matter. And finally, I have contrasted positive and negative shapes to demonstrate that in watercolor, the areas of the paper that are not painted are at least as important as those areas that are.
